Charles Anderson

Dr Charles Anderson is Associate Professor Landscape Architecture in the School of Architecture and Urban Design at RMIT University. He is founding director of Charles Anderson Studios (CAS) incorporating Stutterheim / Anderson Landscape Architecture (SAALA), an award winning design practice based in Melbourne. A Landscape Architect, artist, and critical thinker with over thirty years experience making work, publishing and exhibiting around the world, Charles has a distinguished reputation as an artist and designer, and has received numerous awards for his work from across the art and design professions. His work foregrounds the fertile character of collaborative and interdisciplinary modes of practice and advocates a mode of place making which, rather than reproduce planned environments as systems of control, configures place as a discursive contested meshwork of movement, encounter, and exchange. Charles is a registered member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), and until recently was Director Region 8, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA), as well as honorary Co-Chairman, International Landscape Design Industry Association (ILIA), China.Recent publications include: The Exchange: an urban living Lab, Melbourne Books, 2019, and ‘Human-Non-Human: the Speculative Robot’, (with Jondi Keane). Recent built works include New Quay Central Park, and Monash Bio-Medical Building (both in collaboration with Aspect Studios, Melbourne).

María F. Carrascal

International Ph.D architect, whose studies and teaching explore the field of creative regeneration in contemporary cities, focusing on the role of art. Recently coordinated the theory seminar «Pioneering an Open Access to the The City» at Cornell University or the practical seminar «Tactical Piacenza, on Creative Urban Practices» at Politecnico di Milano. Researcher in the group Contemporary City, Architecture and Heritage and founder of the research platform Laboratorio Q on Creative Urban Places. She is the responsible of the Creative Industry Program in the 2020 Director Plan for Sevilla’s Historic Heritage (Sevilla City Council). Visiting scholar also at Columbia University, the Municipal Art Society of NYC, St John ‘s University NYC, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Spanish Cultural Center of Equatorial Guinea, or Universidad de Barcelona. Since 2008, she regularly teaches at Universidad de Sevilla in the Bachelor of Architecture and the MSc on Sustainable City and Architecture (2013-), currently holding a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Urban Planning. Her design production with the office ARTIPICA Creative Spaces has been distinguished by COAM awards, FAD Awards, ICO Foundation or the Architectural League of NYC.

Geraldine Dening

She is the co-founder and Director of Architects for Social Housing (ASH), and a qualified architect with her own practice based in London. She is also a senior lecturer at the Leicester School of Architecture, where she lectures on professional practice and ethics, as well as running a design studio. Recent projects with Architects for Social Housing include designs and feasibility studies for additional housing and improvements to 6 council and social housing estates in London threatened with demolition. These include proposals to increase the housing capacity on Central Hill Estate in South London by up to 50% with no demolition, and on West Kensington and Gibbs Green Estate, as part of the community’s application for the Right to Transfer the estate into community ownership. She also devised and co-ordinated Open Garden Estates, a series of events hosted by estates threatened with demolition. As ASH’s lead architect she is currently working with a number of housing co-operatives to explore new forms of community-led development. In 2018 Geraldine was named by the Evening Standard newspaper as one of London’s 30 most influential architects. and with ASH co-founder Simon Elmer she is working on a book titled ‘For a Socialist Architecture’.

Paula Fernández San Marcos

Architect from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica). After five years of professional experience between Madrid and Vienna in the fields of architecture, social housing and collaborative urbanism, got graduated as Master in Sustainable Cities and Architecture at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Seville, where she currently assists the investigation ‘Minor Architecture’ carried at MCAS: ‘Regeneration Projects: Research, advanced design, creativity and ethics’.

Reyes Gallegos

Dr. Architect specialized in Urban Planning. Doctoral Thesis «Visions and proposals towards an emerging urbanism: a journey through the living city 2006-2016» ETSAS (September 2017 / C.L.) She is Director of the REAVIVA Plan, Seville urban improvement micro-action plan, an initiative of the City Council of Seville. (20015-2020). She was Coordinator of the project LA CIUDAD VIVA, Ministry of Development and Housing of the Junta de Andalucía, (2007-2015). She was the Founder of the eP [space-raised-public] action platform
Citizen platform for the Reactivation of public space (2011-2014).

Carlos García Vázquez

Architect. Academic activity: Full Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura (Universidad de Sevilla).
Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano (Scuola di Architettura Urbanistica Ingegneria delle Costruzioni, Polo Territoriale di Piacenza). Research fields:

Macarena Gross Ariza

Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Management from the Pontifical University of Comillas (ICADE E-2), Master’s Degree in Professional Photography from EFTI, Madrid, Course in Interior Design at the BIOS University of Montevideo and Master’s Degree in «City and Sustainable Architecture» from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Seville (ETSAS).
She is co-founder of «The Live Cover» project, which she currently combines with her artistic work, focused on investigating the relationship between photography and other artistic media as an urban and awareness-raising tool. The relationship between nature, architecture, landscape, environment and mysticism are other topics in which she is interested.
Always in search of the new role of photography in contemporary art, her images emerge from the intersection of different media.

Félix de la Iglesia Salgado

PhD. in Architecture from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Seville who has been teaching in its Architectural Projects Department and in two Master’s Programs in the University: Master in Sustainable City and Architecture and Master in Architecture and Historic Heritage. He has also been offered on multiple occasions to collaborate as an invited professor in numerous institutions and universities such as IUAV di Venezia, the University of Antioquia in Medellin and the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires. He has also written various publications and participated in many conferences.

Tahl Kaminer

He is Reader in Architectural History and Theory at Cardiff University. He previously worked at the University of Edinburgh and TU Delft. Tahl has published two monographs, The Efficacy of Architecture and Architecture, Crisis and Resuscitation, and edited several anthologies and special issues of the journal Footprint.

Alban Mannisi

PhD, Landscape Urbanist, founder and director of SCAPETHICAL. Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture & Urban Design within the College of Design and Social Context at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology [RMIT] in Australia and Research Member of the Architecture / Milieu / Landscape Laboratory in the School of Architecture_Paris La Villette. He has lived and worked in Nantes, Bordeaux, Paris (France), Seoul (Korea), Singapore, London (UK), Tokyo (Japan), Phitsanulok (Thailand) and Melbourne (Australia). His experience includes, as an academic, teaching Landscape and Urban Planning at the Urban Planning dpt .of Hanyang University in Seoul_Korea, the Architecture dpt. of Naresuan University in Phitsanulok_Thailand and the Architecture dpt. of Korea National University of Arts in Seoul. His main areas of interest are; the Implementation of Political Ecology in Landscape Planning; the Social Ecology Deployment through Environmental Mediation. Major research projects are; the Globalization of Sustainable Narrative; the Analysis on the Foundation of Localized Political Ecology & Citizen Resistance.

Jorge Minguet Medina

PhD March architect, Architectural Design is professor at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Málaga, invited professor at master degrees in the Universities of Seville and Málaga and member of the research group «»Out-Arquias, research on the limits of architecture». He has published many articles in international reviews and conference proceedings, as well as of the book «(Aspectos de) La Arquitectura después de Bretton Woods» –(Aspects from) Architecture after Bretton Woods»- awarded with the Spanish Biennal of Architecture and Urbanism research prize among others. His research deals with the relations of Architecture, Society and Capitalism and, specifically in obliteration as the range of operations conducted to expand capitalist procedures via its naturalization. Besides, he also has an extensive and variated experience in architectural practice.

Daniel Navas Carrillo

María Prieto-Peinado

She is an Architect and Lecturer of architectural projects at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Seville (US), whose research has been directed to deepen the spontaneous spatial processes in the construction of the marginal city. In recent years she is working on research on everyday landscapes, on two different themes: a first through the Development Cooperation with Landscapes of the Guaraní People in Paraguay and the second, on the Spanish-Portuguese border in the context of Mining Landscapes. She is a Principal Investigator of the research group Out_arquías, HUM-853 of the US Doctorate in Architecture and Urbanism from the US and Master in Heritage from the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage (IAPH) Junta de Andalucía.

Julia Rey Pérez

PhD. architect and Associate Professor at the Department of History, Theory and Architectural Composition in the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Seville, Spain. Invited professor at Università Iuav di Venezia, in Italia and at the Technological University of Eindhoven in The Nehterlands. She collaborates with Unesco in the implementation of the “Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape”. Professor in the Master in Sustainable city and Architecture (U. Seville) and member of the Institute of Architecture and Building Science (IUACC) at the University of Seville. In addition, she is a researcher of the group CAP_City, Architecture and contemporary heritage. Her research focuses on the role of heritage and culture in the sustainable development of historical and contemporary cities, and specifically works on the identification of sustainable urban strategies to insert them into local policies.

Carlos Tapia Martin

He is an investigator of the Network of Sociospatial Studies RESE (University of Antioquia, Colombia) and of the Institute of Architecture and Building Science (IUACC) at the University of Seville. In addition, he is a researcher of the group OUT_Arquias, investigation in the limits of the architecture. He investigates the ‘symptoms of contemporaneity’, and at this moment, he develops two related investigations: ‘Critique and Epistemology of Future City’s Dream’ and ‘Space and Negativity’.
